Breaded Prawns or Halibut & Chips

Method

Preparation and Cooking

1

Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and cut the potatoes into thick fries. Rinse them under cold water and pat dry.

2

Cook the Fries

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 180°C (350°F). Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.

3

Prepare the Breading Station

Set up three bowls: one with flour mixed with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika; one with beaten eggs; and one with breadcrumbs.

4

Bread the Prawns or Halibut

Dip each prawn or fillet in the flour, then the egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

5

Fry the Prawns or Halibut

In a separate pan, heat more vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the breaded prawns or halibut until golden and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

6

Assemble the Dish

Serve the breaded prawns or halibut with golden fries, mixed salad greens, lemon wedges, and tartar sauce on the side.
