Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips or your desired shape for fries.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes them crispier.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked fries and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel to remove excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). You can check the temperature with a thermometer or by dropping in a small piece of potato; if it sizzles, it's ready.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried potato strips to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels. While still hot, sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fries hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
