Preparation Steps
Prepare the Garbanzo Beans
Soak the garbanzo beans in water with baking soda overnight. Drain and rinse before cooking.
Cook the Beans
Boil the soaked garbanzo beans in fresh water for about 1 hour or until tender. Drain and let cool.
Blend the Ingredients
In a food processor, combine the cooked garbanzo beans, red bell pepper, tahini, salt, and citric acid. Blend until smooth.
Add Vegetable Oil
With the processor running, slowly drizzle in the vegetable oil until the hummus reaches your desired consistency.
Taste and Adjust
Taste the hummus and adjust seasoning with additional salt or citric acid, if needed.
Serve
