- 5
Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if using)
Use a rubber spatula to fold in the semisweet chocolate chips and optional chopped nuts until evenly distributed through the dough.
Baking & Finishing
- 6
Preheat oven
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
- 7
Portion dough
Using a medium cookie scoop (about 1.5 tablespoons) or a rounded tablespoon, portion the dough into 1-inch high mounds and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets to allow spreading.
- 8
Optional topping
Optional: For bakery-style cookies, press a few extra chocolate chips onto the top of each dough mound so the cookies look studded after baking.
- 9
Bake
Bake one sheet at a time in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are set and golden but the centers still look slightly soft. Rotate the pan halfway through baking for even color.
- 10
Cool
Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes to finish setting, then transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
