Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Pasta

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt and add the fettuccine. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Preparing the Chicken

  1. 2

    Cook the Chicken

While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season the chicken breast with salt and black pepper. Cook the chicken for about 6-7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Remove from skillet and let rest for a few minutes before slicing.

Making the Sauce

  1. 3

    Prepare the Sauce

In the same skillet used for the chicken, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and well combined. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Combining the Dish

  1. 4

    Combine Pasta, Chicken, and Sauce

Add the drained fettuccine to the skillet with the sauce, tossing to coat the pasta evenly. Slice the cooked chicken and place it on top of the pasta. Garnish with fresh basil and, if desired, sprinkle with red pepper flakes and lemon zest.
