Method
Preparation
- 1
- 2
Measure spirits and liqueur
Pour 1 oz cognac into a jigger and set aside. Measure 1/2 oz crème de cassis or Chambord into a separate jigger.
Assemble Cocktail
- 3
Pour the crème de cassis (or Chambord) into the bottom of the chilled flute or coupe. This provides the signature fruit base for the Kir Royale-style drink.
- 4
Add the 1 oz cognac gently on top of the liqueur. You can pour over the back of a spoon to help keep a subtle layering effect if desired, but it will mingle when sparkling wine is added.
- 5
Slowly top with 3 oz chilled Prosecco, pouring down the side of the glass to preserve bubbles and prevent foaming. Leave a small gap at the top to avoid overflow.
Finish & Garnish
- 6
- 7
If using a lemon peel for extra aroma, lightly express it over the cocktail and discard or add as a secondary garnish per preference.
- 8
Serve immediately while cold and effervescent.
