Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Chill bowl

Place the serving bowl in the refrigerator or freezer for 5–10 minutes before plating to keep scoops from melting quickly.

  2. 2

    Warm scoop

Dip the metal ice cream scoop in warm water for 10–15 seconds and shake off excess. Warming helps create clean scoops.

Plating the Scoops

  1. 3

If serving a combination (e.g., two vanilla and one chocolate): on a plate or in the chilled bowl, place the first scoop at the back left, the second scoop at the back right, and the third scoop centered slightly forward to form a triangle. For sorbet-only order, place three sorbet scoops evenly spaced.

  2. 4

Use the warmed scoop to cut clean, round portions of ice cream or sorbet from each container. Press and rotate the scoop to form a full sphere, then lift and place into the bowl. Wipe the scoop between flavors if switching to avoid flavor transfer.

  3. 5

If scoops become misshapen, gently rotate the bowl while holding the scoop steady to reshape, or use the edge of the scoop to smooth the surface.

Adding Toppings

  1. 6

Choose up to three toppings. For hot sauces (hot fudge or caramel), warm briefly: microwave 10–15 seconds in a small microwave-safe bowl and stir until pourable. Drizzle about 1 tablespoon over one or two scoops as desired.

  2. 7

Sprinkle the chopped toasted nuts and crumbled cookie evenly over the scoops — about 1 tablespoon total — to add crunch.

  3. 8

Add fresh berries on one side of the bowl to add color and brightness (about 1 tablespoon).

  4. 9

Pipe or spoon whipped cream as a small dollop (about 2 tablespoons) beside the scoops and top with a maraschino cherry and a mint leaf.

Finishing & Service

  1. 10

Serve immediately with a spoon. Recommend a small dessert spoon and napkin. If transporting, cover loosely and keep refrigerated; serve within 10–15 minutes for best texture.

  2. 11

Adjust toppings and scoop flavors to guest preference (e.g., three sorbets for a dairy-free option).
