Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Coffee

Brew 1 cup of espresso coffee and let it cool. If desired, mix in 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur for added flavor.

  2. 2

    Separate the Eggs

Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. Place the yolks in one bowl and the whites in another.

  3. 3

    Whisk the Yolks and Sugar

In the bowl with the egg yolks, add 1 cup of sugar. Whisk together until the mixture becomes pale and creamy.

  4. 4

    Add Mascarpone

Add 16 oz of mascarpone cheese and 1 tsp of vanilla extract to the egg yolk mixture. Whisk until smooth and fully combined.

  5. 5

    Whip the Cream

In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.

  6. 6

    Beat the Egg Whites

In the bowl with the egg whites, beat until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the mascarpone mixture until no white streaks remain.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Soak the Ladyfingers

Dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso for about 1-2 seconds, making sure not to soak them too long.

  2. 8

    Layer the Dessert

In a rectangular dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.

  3. 9

    Repeat Layers

Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture on top.

  4. 10

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Serving

  1. 11

    Dust with Cocoa

Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.

  2. 12

    Slice and Serve

Slice the tiramisu into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy your delicious homemade tiramisu!
