Citrus & Base Mix

Garnish & Finish

Method

Citrus & Base Mix

1

Prepare fresh juices

Squeeze fresh oranges and grapefruit to measure 1 cup orange juice and 1/2 cup grapefruit juice. Strain through a fine sieve into a measuring cup to remove pulp for a smooth beverage.

2

Brew green tea ahead of time, chill completely, and measure 1 cup. Keep sparkling water chilled until assembly.

Sweetening & Flavoring

3

Make honey syrup by combining equal parts honey and hot water (for example 2 tbs honey + 2 tbs hot water). Stir until fully dissolved. Cool a moment and measure 2 tbs for the recipe.

4

In a small bowl or measuring cup, combine the lemon juice (1 tbs) and vanilla extract (1/4 tsp) with the honey syrup and stir to integrate. This brightens and rounds the citrus base.

Herb & Aromatic

5

Lightly bruise the mint leaves between your fingers or with the back of a spoon to release aroma. Place bruised mint and cucumber ribbons into a shaker or large mixing glass.

6

Add the orange juice, grapefruit juice, chilled green tea and the honey-lemon-vanilla mixture to the shaker with mint and cucumber.

7

Gently muddle the ingredients together 6–8 times — enough to release oils and cucumber flavor but not to shred the mint into bits.

Garnish & Finish

8

Fill two serving glasses with ice (about 1 cup ice per glass). Strain the muddled mixture over the ice into the glasses, dividing evenly. Use a fine mesh strainer to catch mint bits if you prefer a clearer drink.

9

Top each glass with chilled sparkling water (about 1/2 cup per glass) and gently stir once to combine and preserve carbonation.

10

Garnish each glass with a cucumber ribbon tucked along the inside, a sprig of fresh mint, and a grapefruit twist or orange wheel on the rim.
