Sparkling Citrus Base

Method

Sparkling Citrus Base

1

Juice and Measure

Squeeze fresh oranges and a lemon to yield the required amounts (3 oz orange juice, 0.5 oz lemon juice). Strain through a fine mesh if pulp is undesirable.

2

Combine Syrups and Juices

In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass, add the orange juice, lemon juice, simple syrup (0.5 oz), and ginger syrup (0.25 oz). Stir for 10–15 seconds to blend flavors thoroughly.

Fizz & Finish

3

Ice and Shake / Build

Fill the shaker with ice up to about 3/4 full, cap, and give a gentle single short shake (5 seconds) — the goal is to chill and slightly dilute, not to create foam. If you prefer to build in the glass, fill the serving glass with ice and pour the mixed juices over the ice instead.

4

Add Sparkling Water

Pour the chilled club soda (3 oz) into the shaker/glass gently to preserve carbonation. If using a shaker, briefly stir (3–5 seconds) to combine without flattening the soda.

5

Garnish and Serve

Strain into a tall Collins or highball glass over fresh ice if you shook; if you built in the glass, just top and give a gentle stir. Garnish with an orange wheel on the rim, a piece of candied ginger on a pick if using, and a mint sprig for aroma. Serve immediately so the drink stays fizzy.
