Method
Prepare glass
Select glassware
Choose a chilled rocks glass or a tulip-shaped tasting glass depending on presentation preference. If guest prefers neat in a chilled glass, place the glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes beforehand or fill briefly with ice and water to chill, then discard before pouring.
If the guest requests an ice cube, select a large clear ice cube and place it in the center of the glass.
Pour whiskey
Confirm the guest's selection from current offerings. Using a jigger, measure 2 oz (60 ml) of the chosen whiskey.
Hold the bottle firmly and pour the measured 2 oz directly into the prepared glass over the ice cube if requested, or neat if no ice is desired.
Optional dilution & aroma
If the guest prefers a slight reduction in proof, add 1/4 oz (approximately a teaspoon) of room-temperature water to the whiskey. This can open the aroma and flavor without over-diluting.
Serve
Present the pour to the guest, letting them know the name and provenance of the whiskey, its age or expression (if available), and whether it is served neat, with ice, or with a twist.
Advise the guest: sip slowly at room temperature to enjoy the full flavor profile. Offer water on the side if the guest wishes to sip water between tastings.
