Bloody Maria Cocktail

Method

Bloody Maria Cocktail

1

Prepare the glass

Rub the lime wedge around the rim of a highball or pint glass. Dip the moistened rim into coarse salt or celery salt to coat. Fill the glass about two-thirds with ice and set aside.

2

Mix the cocktail

In a cocktail shaker or a large mixing glass, add the tequila, tomato juice, fresh lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, prepared horseradish (if using), celery salt, freshly ground black pepper, and smoked paprika. Add a handful of ice (about 4-6 large cubes).

3

Stir to combine

Stir the mixture for about 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted. Avoid shaking vigorously to keep the tomato juice from frothing; stirring produces a smoother texture.

4

Taste and adjust

Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning: add more hot sauce for heat, more lime juice for brightness, or a little more Worcestershire for umami. If the drink needs dilution, add a small splash of chilled water or more ice and stir briefly.

5

Strain and serve

Strain the mixed cocktail into the prepared glass over the ice already in the glass.

6

Garnish

Garnish with the celery stalk and your choice of optional garnish (pickled jalapeño, olive, or cherry tomato). Serve with a cocktail straw and a small spoon if you included heavier garnishes.
