Doughnut Balls

Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy. In another bowl, mix flour, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and mix until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.

2

Fry the Loukomades

Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, use a spoon to drop dough balls into the oil. Fry until golden brown, approximately 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally for even cooking. Remove and drain on paper towels.

3

Serve

Drizzle the fried Loukomades with honey and serve with chocolate syrup on the side for dipping. Optionally, dust with additional cinnamon before serving.
