Chill the bottle to the recommended serving temperature: remove from the refrigerator 10–15 minutes before serving if stored at cellar temperature, or place in the fridge to reach about 55–58°F (13–14°C). Pinot Noir benefits from being slightly cooler than room temperature to preserve fresh acidity and aromatic lift.

Inspect the bottle: wipe the neck, remove foil, and cut or twist off the cork cleanly. Use a waiter’s corkscrew for most consistent results.

Open the bottle and pour a small tasting (about 30–60 ml) into your quickest glass. Swirl gently and inhale to assess aromatics: look for dark cherry, subtle earth, and floral notes typical of the Willamette Valley expression.

Decanting option (recommended if the wine has been bottle-aged or you want to open up aromatics): slowly pour the Pinot Noir into a decanter in one continuous motion. If you prefer a lighter aeration without a decanter, add 60 ml filtered water to a half-bottle pour and swirl gently to coax open the aromatics (this is an optional technique for very tight wines). Allow to rest for 15–30 minutes.

Use a large-bowled Burgundy or Pinot Noir glass to concentrate aromas and deliver the wine across your palate. Ensure the glass is clean and free of detergent residue.

If serving slightly chilled, place the glass briefly in the refrigerator or set on a chilled coaster so the rim is cool but not cold.

For each serving, pour 125–150 ml (about 1/2 to 2/3 of a standard pour) into the glass. This allows room for swirling and appreciating the bouquet.

Optional garnish: For a dinner presentation, float one fresh halved black cherry in the glass or rest a small sprig of thyme or rosemary across the rim. These accents echo the wine’s dark cherry and herbal nuances without altering the wine’s profile.

Serve immediately. Encourage guests to swirl, sniff, and take small sips to appreciate the wine’s fresh acidity, silky tannins, and dark cherry notes.

If you do not finish the bottle, recork it tightly (use the original cork or a vacuum stopper). Store upright in a cool, dark place or in the refrigerator. Consume within 2–4 days for best expression; Pinot Noir will gradually lose aroma and freshness after opening.

If the wine tastes flat the next day, gently decant or pour through a fine strainer into a glass to reintroduce oxygen and aromas before serving.
