Pasta

Creamy Alfredo Sauce

Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, fill with water and add 1 tablespoon of salt. Bring to a rolling boil.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Add 2 cups of pasta to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and toss with 1 tablespoon of olive oil to prevent sticking.

Making Tomato Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

In a saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add 0.5 cup of chopped onion and 2 teaspoons of minced garlic. Sauté until the onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Pour in 1 cup of canned crushed tomatoes, and add 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and 0.25 teaspoon of black pepper. Stir well.

  3. 6

    Simmer Sauce

Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15 minutes. Stir occasionally. Add 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh basil before serving.

Making Creamy Alfredo Sauce

  1. 7

    Melt Butter

In a separate saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.

  2. 8

    Add Cream and Cheese

Once melted, slowly whisk in 1 cup of heavy cream. Bring to a gentle simmer, then add 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and 0.25 teaspoon of black pepper.

  3. 9

    Stir Until Smooth

Continue stirring until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy, about 5-7 minutes.

Combining and Serving

  1. 10

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

In a large bowl, combine the drained pasta with either the tomato sauce or Alfredo sauce. Toss until well coated.

  2. 11

    Serve

Serve hot, garnished with additional fresh basil, grated Parmesan, or a drizzle of olive oil if desired.
