Gin & Citrus Base

Aromatic & Fortifying Components

Method

Prep

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or chilled rocks glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure it's well chilled.

2

If using a lemon twist and wheel, zest a strip (~1/2 inch wide, 2–3 inches long) for the twist and slice a thin lemon wheel; set aside.

Mixing & Dilution

3

Add the gin, fresh lemon juice, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, dry vermouth, orange curaçao, and Angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker.

4

Fill the shaker with plenty of ice (at least 3/4 full). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted. This achieves proper dilution and texture.

5

If you prefer a slightly colder, clearer drink, double-strain through a fine-mesh strainer into a chilled coupe or rocks glass over a large ice cube.

6

If serving up (no ice), double-strain into the chilled coupe. If serving on the rocks, pour over the large ice cube in the chilled rocks glass.

Garnish & Serve

7

Express the lemon twist over the drink by holding it skin-side down above the glass and giving it a sharp twist to release the oils, then rub the rim with the twist and drop it into the drink.

8

Optionally float the thin lemon wheel or dehydrated lemon on top for presentation.

9

Serve immediately. Recommend pairing with light hors d'oeuvres or as a refined aperitif.
