Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or martini glass by placing it in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or filling it with ice water while you assemble the cocktail. If using ice water, discard it just before straining the drink.

2

Combine ingredients

Add 2 oz gin, 1 oz white crème de cacao, 1 oz heavy cream (or half-and-half), and 0.25 oz simple syrup into a cocktail shaker.

3

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with cubed ice (about 3/4 full or roughly 1 cup). Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds — long enough to thoroughly chill and slightly aerate the cream for a silky texture.

4

Double strain

Using the shaker's strainer and a fine mesh strainer (if available), pour the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass. Double straining removes small ice shards for a smoother drink.

5

Garnish and serve

Lightly grate fresh nutmeg over the top to taste (about a small pinch). Optionally add a lemon twist or a white chocolate shaving on the rim or atop the foam. Serve immediately.
