Cocktail Base

Method

Cocktail Base

1

Combine spirits and modifiers

In a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice, add 2 oz vodka, 0.5 oz blue curaçao, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup.

2

Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds, until the shaker is cold to the touch and the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.

3

Prepare glass

Fill a highball or Collins glass with cubed ice (about 1 cup). If desired, run a lime wedge around the rim and dip in fine sugar for a light sugared rim.

4

Strain the chilled cocktail base over the prepared glass, pouring the shaken mixture evenly over the ice.

Energy Spark

5

Top with energy drink

Gently pour 3 oz of the citrus energy drink over the back of a spoon onto the strained cocktail to preserve some layering and effervescence.

6

Optional lighten

If you prefer a less sweet or less intense drink, add 1 oz club soda and gently stir once with a bar spoon to combine. Do not over-stir to retain carbonation.

Garnish & Finish

7

Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim and drop in a piece of candied ginger or a maraschino cherry for contrast. Optionally express a lime peel over the drink to release oils, then discard or drop it in.

8

Serve immediately with a short straw. Enjoy responsibly — this drink contains both alcohol and caffeine.
