Method
Base Tea
Taste the brewed tea; it should be strong and slightly astringent so it holds up when mixed with milk.
Milk Mixture
Warm and combine milks
In a separate small saucepan, combine 300 ml whole milk, 50 ml heavy cream and 2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk. Warm gently over medium-low heat until just below simmering (do not boil), stirring occasionally so the condensed milk dissolves fully, about 4 minutes.
Remove from heat when small steam wisps appear and tiny bubbles form at edges.
Sweetener & Flavor
Stir 2 tsp granulated sugar, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract and 1/4 tsp ground cardamom (if using) into the warm milk mixture until dissolved and aromatic. Adjust sugar to taste — the finished drink should be mildly sweet.
Assemble GGSoft
Combine tea and milk
Pour the warm milk mixture into the strained black tea. Stir thoroughly to create a smooth, uniform beverage. Taste and adjust sweetness or vanilla if needed.
Chill and serve iced
Fill a tall glass with about 1 cup ice cubes. Pour the GGSoft (tea + milk) over the ice. If you prefer it hot, skip the ice and serve immediately in a warmed mug.
Top with 2 tbsp whipped cream if using, and dust with 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon or cocoa powder. Serve with a straw or spoon to mix through the cream topping.
Notes
This recipe yields a creamy, lightly sweetened tea drink named GGSoft. For a vegan version, substitute dairy with unsweetened oat or almond milk and use coconut cream instead of heavy cream; increase sweetened condensed milk substitute accordingly (or use dairy-free condensed milk).
