Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steaks from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps in even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the ribeye steaks with salt and black pepper. Rub the olive oil onto the steaks to help the seasoning adhere.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over high heat. Once hot, add the ribeye steaks. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them. Flip the steaks and add crushed garlic cloves and rosemary to the pan.

  4. 4

    Finish Cooking

Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, basting the steaks with the garlic and rosemary juices. Adjust the cooking time as desired for preferred doneness.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Fries Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into thick strips, about 1/4 inch wide. Rinse the potato strips in cold water to remove excess starch.

  2. 7

    Soak the Potatoes

Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes. This helps to make the fries crispier.

  3. 8

    Heat the Oil

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 9

    Fry the Potatoes

Drain the potato strips and pat them dry with paper towels. Carefully add them to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

  5. 10

    Season the Fries

Remove the fries from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Season with salt to taste while they are still hot.
