Method
Prep & Rim
Prepare glass
Choose a rocks or coupe glass. Run a lime wedge around the rim. Spread the salt on a small plate and press the rim into the salt to create an even salted edge. If you prefer no salt, skip this step.
Seasonal Component
Muddle or measure seasonal flavor
If using a muddled option (strawberry, cucumber, jalapeño), place the fruit or jalapeño slices in the base of a cocktail shaker or mixing glass and gently muddle 6–8 times until fragrant but not pulverized. If using mango puree or blood orange juice, measure and add directly to the shaker. For jalapeño, discard seeds for mild heat or keep a few for extra spice.
Mixing
Combine ingredients
Add 2 oz blanco tequila, 0.75 oz orange liqueur, 1 oz fresh lime juice and 0.5 oz agave syrup to the shaker with the seasonal component.
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 6 cubes). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker exterior is frosty and well-chilled.
Double strain (if muddled)
If you muddled fruit or jalapeño, double-strain the cocktail through a fine mesh strainer into the prepared glass to remove pulp and seeds. If you used a juice or puree and want a textured drink, you may single-strain.
Finish & Serve
Serve either up in the chilled coupe or over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim and add an optional herb (mint for strawberry/mango; cilantro for spicy; basil for cucumber) or a thin slice of your seasonal fruit. Taste and adjust: add 0.25 oz agave if you prefer sweeter, or an extra 0.25 oz lime if you prefer tarter.
