Cooking the Pasta

In a large pot, bring 4-5 quarts of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt.

Cook Spaghetti
Add 12 oz of spaghetti to the boiling water. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Preparing the Meatballs

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 lb of ground beef, 1 cup of breadcrumbs, 1 large egg, 0.5 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 2 tsp of minced garlic, 0.5 tsp of salt, 0.5 tsp of black pepper, 1 tsp of dried oregano, and 1 tsp of dried basil.

Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake Meatballs
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.
Cooking the Sausage

In a skillet over medium heat, cook 1 lb of Italian sausage until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from heat and slice into bite-sized pieces.

Stir in 28 oz of canned crushed tomatoes, 1 tsp of salt, 0.5 tsp of black pepper, 1 tsp of dried oregano, 1 tsp of dried basil, and 1 tsp of sugar. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 15 minutes.

Add the cooked meatballs and sliced sausage to the sauce. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
