Method
Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.

Cook Penne
Once boiling, add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 10-12 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
Preparing the Bolognese Sauce

Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

Brown the Meat
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it apart with a spoon and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

Simmer Sauce
Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combining and Serving

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Once the sauce has thickened, add the drained penne pasta to the skillet and toss until the pasta is well coated with the sauce.

Serve immediately, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese.
