Method

Prepare the Meatballs

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Using your hands, mix the ingredients until well combined. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 2 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Prepare the Sauce

  1. 3

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 4

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Pour in the crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes.

Bake and Serve

  1. 5

    Arrange Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Pour the sauce over the meatballs on the baking sheet, ensuring they are well covered.

  2. 6

    Add Mozzarella

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the meatballs evenly.

  3. 7

    Bake

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  4. 8

    Prepare Peppers

While the meatballs are baking, roast the long hot peppers in a dry skillet over medium-high heat until blistered and charred, about 8-10 minutes.

  5. 9

    Serve

Once the meatballs are done, remove them from the oven and serve hot with the roasted long hot peppers on the side.
