Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mint and Lime

In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add the fresh mint leaves and sugar. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently crush the mint leaves with the sugar to release the mint oils. Be careful not to tear the leaves into tiny pieces.

  2. 2

    Add Lime Juice

Cut the lime into two halves. Squeeze the juice from one half of the lime into the glass over the muddled mint and sugar. Reserve the other half for garnish. Stir the mixture gently to combine.

  3. 3

    Add Rum and Ice

Pour the white rum into the glass. Fill the glass with ice cubes to the top to chill the mixture.

  4. 4

    Top with Club Soda

Slowly pour the club soda over the ice and rum mixture, allowing it to mix gently. Adjust the amount of club soda to your taste.

  5. 5

    Garnish and Serve

Take the reserved half of the lime and cut it into wedges. Garnish your mojito with a wedge of lime and a sprig of mint. Serve immediately with a straw.
