Method

Lasagna Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Meat Sauce

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Add ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  3. 3

Combine Meat Sauce and Tomato Sauce

Stir in the light tomato sauce and fresh basil into the meat mixture. Simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

  4. 4

    Mix Ricotta Filling

In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until smooth.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Lasagna

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce at the bottom. Place 4 noodles on top, then spread half of the ricotta mixture, followed by a layer of meat sauce, and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles topped with the remaining meat sauce and mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

  6. 6

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing.

Salad Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare the Salad

In a large bowl, combine mixed salad greens, cherry tomatoes, and sliced cucumber.

  2. 8

    Make the Dressing

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper.

  3. 9

    Toss the Salad

Drizzle the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine. Serve immediately alongside the lasagna.
