Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or Nick & Nora glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail (about 3–5 minutes).

2

Combine ingredients

Add Four Roses bourbon, sweet vermouth, Luxardo maraschino liqueur, Angostura bitters, and orange bitters into a mixing glass or cocktail shaker (without the shaker top).

3

Add ice and stir

Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice (about 1 cup). Stir gently but thoroughly for 20–30 seconds (approximately 20–25 full turns) until the mixture is well chilled, slightly diluted, and the outside of the mixing glass feels cold.

4

Prepare glass

If you chilled the glass with ice water, discard the ice/water and briefly dry the glass.

5

Strain

Using a julep or hawthorne strainer, double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass to remove small ice chips.

6

Express and garnish

Take an orange peel and express the oils over the surface of the cocktail by holding it skin-side down about 3–4 inches above the glass and giving it a quick, firm squeeze. Rub the rim with the peel and drop it into the drink as a garnish.

7

Serve

Serve immediately. Sip slowly to appreciate the balance of bourbon, sweet vermouth, and the cherry-almond note from the maraschino.
