Scone Ingredients

Method

Scone Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

3

Cut in Butter

Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4

Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

5

Add Mix-ins

Gently fold in the dried cranberries for the sweet scones and the cheddar cheese and chives for the savory scones.

6

Shape the Scones

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut into wedges or use a round cutter for individual scones.

7

Bake

Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

8

Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving with jam and butter.
