Method

Preparation

1

Choose bitter or liqueur

Select one primary base: Aperol, Campari, Limoncello, Cynar, or Averna — use only one per serving. The recipe quantities indicated apply to whichever you choose.

2

Chill glassware

If possible, place a large wine glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes beforehand or fill it with ice and water while you prepare ingredients to chill it thoroughly.

Build the Spritz

3

Fill a large wine glass three-quarters full with large ice cubes (about 1 cup). Large cubes melt slower and preserve effervescence.

4

Measure 2 oz of your chosen base (Aperol, Campari, Limoncello, Cynar, or Averna) and pour it over the ice.

5

Add 3 oz chilled Prosecco to the glass. Pour gently to preserve bubbles.

6

Top with 1 oz chilled soda water. Adjust soda slightly (±0.5 oz) to taste for more or less dilution and effervescence.

7

Give the drink a single gentle stir (about 3 rotations) with a bar spoon to integrate ingredients without flattening the Prosecco.

Garnish & serve

8

Garnish with one fresh orange slice on the rim or floated in the glass. For Limoncello spritz, substitute a thin lemon wheel or twist for a brighter look.

9

Serve immediately while cold and effervescent. Provide a straw or stirrer if desired; recommend enjoying within a few minutes for best bubbles.
