Shake Base

Method

Shake Base

1

Combine liquids

Pour 1.5 cups unsweetened almond milk and 0.5 cups cold water into a high-speed blender or shaker bottle. Using part water keeps sugar and calories low while maintaining volume.

2

Add protein powders

Add 1 scoop vanilla protein powder and 0.5 scoop vanilla isolate (if using). This combination achieves a high protein content with minimal sugar. If using only one powder, use a single full scoop.

Flavor & Sweetening

3

Add 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon liquid monk fruit (or erythritol sweetener), and a pinch of fine sea salt. Taste after blending and adjust sweetener by 0.25–0.5 tsp if desired. Add 1 tsp sugar-free maple syrup only if you want a rounder flavor.

Texture & Mouthfeel

4

Add 6 ice cubes and 2 tablespoons unsweetened plain Greek yogurt to the blender for creaminess. If you want a thicker, creamier shake that mimics a milkshake, add 0.125 tsp xanthan gum (very small amount). Xanthan will thicken quickly — add only if desired.

5

Blend on high for 30–45 seconds (or until smooth). If using a shaker bottle, add ice last and shake vigorously for 45–60 seconds; note that a shaker won’t achieve the same frothiness as a blender.

Optional Add-ins

6

For mocha vanilla: dissolve 1 tsp instant coffee in the water before combining, or add brewed espresso (cooled). For chocolate-vanilla swirl: add 0.5 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder to the blender with the other ingredients. For a warming note: add 0.125 tsp ground cinnamon.

Finish & Serve

7

Taste and adjust sweetness or vanilla. Pour into a chilled 16–20 oz glass. If you prefer very cold drinks, pour over fresh ice. Optionally garnish with a light dusting of cinnamon or a few grinds of sea salt to enhance flavor.

8

Store leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours; shake or stir before drinking as slight separation may occur.
