Protein Base
Optional Creaminess & Calories
Optional Sweeteners & Flavoring (all unflavored base — adjust to taste)
Optional Mix-ins
Method
Prepare Base Protein Shake
Measure powder and liquid
Add 2 scoops of unflavored protein powder to a clean shaker bottle or blender. Pour in 12 oz cold water.
If you prefer a creamier, higher-calorie shake, replace up to 1 cup of the water with unsweetened almond milk and add 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt. Add 1 tablespoon melted neutral oil or MCT oil for extra calories and mouthfeel.
Add optional sweetener: start with 2 tsp powdered or liquid stevia (or 1 tbsp honey/maple if using caloric sweetener) and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract if desired.
If using mix-ins for texture/flavor, add 6 ice cubes and/or 1/2 cup frozen fruit, or 1/2 tsp cinnamon or 1/2 tsp cocoa powder.
Secure the lid on the shaker or blender. If using a shaker bottle, shake vigorously for 20–30 seconds until powder is fully dissolved and there are no clumps. If using a blender, blend on medium-high for 15–30 seconds until smooth. Scrape down the sides and blend another 5–10 seconds if needed.
Taste and adjust: if too bland, add an additional 1/2–1 tsp sweetener or a pinch more salt to enhance flavor. If too thick, add 1–4 oz water or milk and mix again.
Pour into a glass and consume immediately, or refrigerate in a sealed container for up to 24 hours. If stored, shake or stir before drinking as some separation may occur.
Serving & Variations
For a quick breakfast smoothie: add the optional frozen banana or 1/2 cup frozen berries and blend with the base liquid. This yields a fuller smoothie with extra carbohydrates and texture.
To make a low-volume high-protein shot (for on-the-go): use 2 scoops protein + 4–6 oz water, shake vigorously and drink immediately — expect thicker mouthfeel and concentrated flavor.
