Hot Dog
Choice: Shoestring Fries (single kid portion)
Choice: Fresh Fruit Cup (single kid portion)
Optional Garnishes
Method
Hot Dog
Split and flatten dog
Using a sharp knife, make a lengthwise slit down the top of the all-beef hot dog without cutting all the way through (about 3/4 depth). Press gently along the split to open it slightly, then press the dog flat with the palm of your hand or a spatula so it will make more contact with the griddle.
Griddle the dog
Add 1 tsp vegetable oil to the hot griddle. Place the split-side down first and cook for 2–3 minutes until well-browned and crisped. Flip and press the dog flat with a spatula, cooking another 1–2 minutes to brown the other side. Total cook time ~4–6 minutes depending on thickness; internal temperature should reach 165°F. Avoid overcooking to keep it juicy.
Toast the bun
Place the buttered buns cut-side down on the griddle for 30–45 seconds until lightly golden. Remove buns and hot dog when done.
Choice: Shoestring Fries
If using an air fryer: Preheat to 400°F. Place 1 cup frozen shoestring fries in the basket in a single layer. Lightly spray or toss with 1 tsp vegetable oil. Air-fry 6–8 minutes, shaking halfway, until golden and crisp. Season with a pinch of salt immediately.
If using oven: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Spread fries on a baking sheet in a single layer, toss with 1 tsp oil. Bake 10–12 minutes until crisp, turning once. Season with a pinch of salt.
Choice: Fresh Fruit Cup
Combine 1 oz grapes, 1 oz quartered strawberries, and 1 oz pineapple chunks in a small bowl. Toss gently with 1 tsp lemon juice if using to brighten flavor and prevent browning. Chill briefly or serve immediately.
Optional Garnishes & Plating
Place the assembled flat-top dog on a kid-sized plate. Add either the fries or the fruit cup to the side. Include the half pickle spear and a paper-wrapped end of the bun if desired. Serve warm.
