Shake Base

Method

Prep

1

Chill glass

Place a 16 oz serving glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes while you assemble ingredients to keep the shake cold longer.

2

Measure and have all ingredients ready. If using chocolate chips as mix-in, measure them now.

Blend

3

Combine base ingredients

In a blender, add 1 cup whole milk, 2 cups vanilla ice cream, 3 tablespoons chocolate syrup, 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt.

4

Add mix-ins (optional)

If using chocolate chips or shards, add 2 tablespoons to the blender for texture. Do not add if you prefer a fully smooth shake.

5

Blend to desired consistency

Secure lid and blend on medium-high for 20–35 seconds until smooth and creamy. For a thicker shake, pulse briefly or use less milk; for a thinner shake, add up to 2 more tablespoons of milk and blend an additional 5–10 seconds.

Finish & Serve

6

Remove chilled glass from freezer. If desired, drizzle 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup along the inside of the glass, swirling to create streaks.

7

Pour the blended shake into the prepared 16 oz glass, leaving a little room at the top for whipped cream.

8

Top with 2 tablespoons whipped cream, sprinkle any reserved chocolate chips on top if desired, and finish with a maraschino cherry.

9

Serve immediately with a straw and a long spoon.
