Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare glass and ice

Place one large ice cube in a rocks glass and set aside to chill the glass while you build the cocktail.

2

Build the cocktail

In a mixing glass filled with plenty of ice, add 1 oz gin, 1 oz Campari, and 1 oz sweet vermouth.

3

Add truffle elements

Add 1/8 tsp black truffle-infused olive oil and 2 dashes truffle (or mushroom) bitters to the mixing glass. The oil should be measured carefully — its role is to provide a subtle truffle note without oily mouthfeel.

4

Stir

Stir the mixture gently with a bar spoon for 30–40 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted (the exterior of the mixing glass should feel cold). This ensures proper integration of the oil with the spirits.

5

Strain

Strain the cocktail into the chilled rocks glass over the large ice cube.

6

Garnish

Express an orange peel over the drink by holding it skin-side down over the glass and giving it a quick twist to release oils, then rub the rim with the peel and drop it in.

Optional aroma finish

7

Add fresh truffle (optional)

If using a small slice of fresh black truffle, place it gently on the surface of the drink or beside the ice cube. The truffle will impart an immediate aroma.

8

Capture the aroma

If you have a small cloche or jar, place it over the glass for 20–30 seconds to trap and concentrate the truffle aroma, then lift the cloche at the table for a dramatic, fragrant presentation.
