Carnitas Sandwich Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

1

Prepare the Pork

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Season the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, and cumin. Brown the pork on all sides.

2

Braised Cooking

Add minced garlic, jalapeño (sliced), and enough water to cover the pork. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 2 hours until the pork is tender.

3

Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the pot and let it cool slightly. Shred the pork using two forks.

4

Assemble the Sandwich

On the bottom half of each white roll, layer shredded pork, fresh cilantro, pickled onions, and cotija cheese. Press the sandwich together.

5

Grill the Sandwich

Heat a grill or panini press over medium heat. Place the sandwiches on the grill and press down. Cook for about 3-5 minutes until the bread is crispy and golden.

6

Serve

Serve the carnitas sandwiches warm with a side of mixed greens.
