Ice Cream Base

Method

Preparation of Ice Cream Base

1

Mix the Dairy Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the whole milk and heavy cream until well blended.

2

Add Sugar and Salt

Add the granulated sugar and a pinch of salt to the milk and cream mixture. Whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved.

3

Incorporate Flavor

For vanilla ice cream, stir in the vanilla extract. For chocolate ice cream, add the cocoa powder along with the vanilla extract and mix until smooth.

4

Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours or until thoroughly chilled.

Churning the Ice Cream

5

Prepare Ice Cream Maker

Ensure your ice cream maker is assembled and ready for use according to the manufacturer's instructions.

6

Pour Mixture into Ice Cream Maker

Once chilled, pour the ice cream base into the ice cream maker.

7

Churn the Ice Cream

Turn on the ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually about 20-25 minutes, or until the mixture thickens and resembles soft serve.

8

Transfer to Freezer-safe Container

Once the ice cream is churned, transfer it to a freezer-safe container and smooth the top with a spatula.

9

Freeze to Firm Up

Cover the container with a lid or plastic wrap and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
