Method

Frogg Burger Patties

1

Mix the meat

Place the ground beef in a large bowl. Add salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Gently fold the seasonings into the meat with your hands or a spatula until just combined. Do not overwork — aim for a light, even mix.

2

Form patties

Divide the seasoned meat into four equal portions (about 4 oz each for a 1 lb batch). Shape each portion into a round patty about 3/4-inch thick. Make a shallow 1/2-inch-wide dimple in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent bubbling up while cooking.

3

Preheat pan or grill

Heat a heavy skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat for 3–4 minutes, or preheat a grill to medium-high. If using a pan, add a light swipe of neutral oil to coat the surface.

4

Cook patties

Place patties on the hot pan or grill. Cook undisturbed for 3–4 minutes until a good crust forms. Flip once and cook the second side 3–4 minutes for medium (adjust 2–3 minutes per side for rare, 5–6 minutes per side for well-done).

5

Add cheese

With about 1 minute remaining on the second side, place a slice of cheddar (or your chosen cheese) on each patty. Cover the pan or close the grill lid briefly to melt the cheese, about 30–60 seconds.

Buns & Assembly

6

Toast buns

While patties rest for 2 minutes after cooking, spread softened butter on the cut sides of each bun. Toast the buttered sides in a separate skillet or on the grill, 1–2 minutes until golden and warmed through.

7

Assemble burgers

On the bottom bun place lettuce, then the cheeseburger patty. Add tomato slices, red onion, and pickle slices as desired. Spread ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise on the top bun (or apply to taste). Add optional bacon or avocado if using. Cap with the top bun.

8

Serve

Serve immediately with your choice of sides (fries, salad, or chips). Provide extra condiments for guests to customize their Frogg Burger.

Optional extras

9

If using bacon, cook strips in a skillet over medium heat until crisp (about 6–8 minutes), drain on paper towels and place 2 slices per burger. If using avocado, slice just before assembling to prevent browning. Add hot sauce to mayonnaise for a spicy spread if desired.
