A wheat ale brewed with 2-row Northwest Pale and malted wheat.

In a large brew kettle, combine the 2-row Northwest Pale Malt and malted wheat with 3 gallons of water. Heat to 152°F (67°C) and hold for 60 minutes.

Mashing

After mashing, sparge with enough water to collect 6 gallons of wort in the kettle.

Sparging

Bring the wort to a boil. Add the bittering hops and boil for 60 minutes. Add the aroma hops in the last 5 minutes of the boil.

Boiling

Cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath to 70°F (21°C).

Cooling

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Add the blood orange zest and juice, then pitch the yeast. Seal and ferment for 1-2 weeks at 68°F (20°C).

Fermentation

Once fermentation is complete, bottle the beer with priming sugar and let it carbonate for 1-2 weeks.
