Classic Martini

Negroni

Method

Classic Martini

1

chill glass

Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice water while preparing the drink.

2

Add gin and dry vermouth into a mixing glass filled with ice.

3

Stir gently for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted (about 10–15 full turns).

4

Discard ice from the chilled glass, strain the martini into the glass through a julep strainer.

5

Express the oils of a lemon peel over the drink and drop it in, or garnish with a green olive. Serve immediately.

Old Fashioned

6

Place a rocks glass on the bar. Add simple syrup and bitters to the glass.

7

Add one large ice cube (or fill with ice). Pour whiskey over the ice.

8

Stir gently for 20–30 seconds to chill and dilute slightly.

9

Twist an orange peel over the drink to release oils, rub the peel around the rim and drop it into the glass. Serve.

Margarita (shaken)

10

If salting the rim, rub a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass and dip into coarse salt. Set aside.

11

Combine tequila, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, and optional simple syrup in a cocktail shaker.

12

Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the exterior is frosty and the drink is well chilled.

13

Strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice (or serve neat in a coupe). Garnish with a lime wheel.

Whiskey Sour

14

If using egg white, first perform a dry shake: add bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white to a shaker without ice and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds to emulsify.

15

Add ice to the shaker and shake again for 10–15 seconds until well chilled and frothy.

16

Double strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice or serve neat in a coupe for a smoother texture.

17

Garnish with 2 dashes of Angostura bitters on the foam and optionally a lemon wheel or cherry. Serve.

Negroni

18

Add gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth into a mixing glass filled with ice.

19

Stir for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.

20

Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube. Express an orange peel over the drink, rub the rim with the peel and drop it in as garnish. Serve.
