Overnight Oat Base

Method

Overnight Oat Base

1

Combine dry ingredients

In a medium mixing bowl or a jar with a lid, add 1 cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon chia seeds and 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt. Stir briefly to combine the dry ingredients.

2

Add wet ingredients

Pour in 1 cup milk and 1/2 cup Greek yogurt. Add 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey) and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Stir thoroughly until the oats are evenly moistened and the chia seeds are dispersed.

3

Adjust texture

If the mixture looks too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons additional milk to reach a spoonable but not watery consistency. The oats will thicken as they sit.

4

Chill

Cover the bowl or screw the lid onto the jar and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight (8–12 hours is ideal) to let oats soften and chia seeds swell.

Fruit & Toppings

5

Prepare toppings

When ready to serve, slice 1 ripe banana and measure 1/2 cup mixed berries. If using frozen berries, thaw briefly at room temperature or microwave for 20–30 seconds and drain excess liquid.

6

Assemble

Stir the chilled oat mixture once to loosen. Transfer to a serving bowl or eat from the jar. Arrange the sliced banana and mixed berries on top in an even layer.

7

Add crunch and extras

Sprinkle 1/4 cup toasted nuts or granola and 1 tablespoon shredded coconut over the fruit. Add 1 teaspoon nut butter in dollops and, if desired, a light drizzle (1 teaspoon) of extra maple syrup for sweetness.

8

Serve

Serve immediately. If you prefer a warmer version, heat gently in the microwave for 30–45 seconds before adding toppings.
