Cocktail

Method

Prep

  1. 1

    Rim (optional)

If you want a seasoned rim, rub a lime wedge around the outside lip of a rocks or Collins glass, then dip the rim into coarse salt or tajín spread on a small plate. Set glass aside.

  2. 2

If using fresh blood oranges, roll them on the counter with your palm to loosen juices, then cut and juice enough to yield 1 oz. Strain if you prefer a smoother texture.

  3. 3

If you don't have hibiscus syrup, make a quick version: simmer 1/2 cup dried hibiscus flowers with 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar for 5 minutes, steep 10 minutes, strain and cool. Store leftover syrup refrigerated.

Build & Shake

  1. 4

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

  2. 5

Pour in 2 oz Milagro Silver tequila, 1 oz fresh blood orange juice, 0.75 oz hibiscus syrup, 0.25 oz agave syrup, and 0.75 oz fresh lime juice.

  3. 6

Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold and well-chilled.

Finish & Serve

  1. 7

Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice.

  2. 8

Double-strain the shaken cocktail into the glass to remove ice shards and pulp. (If you prefer a taller, more effervescent drink, use a Collins glass.)

  3. 9

Top with 1.5 oz club soda and gently stir once to integrate.

  4. 10

Garnish with a blood orange wheel on the rim and, if using, a dried hibiscus flower floated on top.

  5. 11

    Serve immediately.
