Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a rocks glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink to lightly chill the serving glass.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

Add 1 oz Hardshore gin, 1 oz Dolin Blanc, and 1 oz Cocchi Americano to a mixing glass or an empty cocktail shaker.

  3. 3

    Add mixing ice

Fill the mixing glass with plenty of fresh ice (about 1 cup) so the drink will dilute correctly while chilling.

  4. 4

    Stir

Stir the mixture gently with a bar spoon for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 full turns) until well chilled and slightly diluted. The outside of the mixing glass should feel very cold and slightly frosted.

  5. 5

    Prepare serving glass

Discard ice water from the chilled rocks glass if used. Add a single large ice cube or sphere to the glass.

  6. 6

    Strain

Using a julep/strainer, strain the chilled mixture from the mixing glass into the prepared rocks glass over the large ice cube.

  7. 7

    Express garnish

Take a lemon peel and hold it over the drink, oil side down. Give it a firm twist to express the citrus oils across the surface of the cocktail, then rub the peel's rim on the glass and drop the twist into the drink (or discard if you prefer).

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately. Optionally provide a short straw or stirrer so the drinker can briefly re-taste after a minute if further dilution is desired.
