Method
Cocktail Base
Measure spirits
Add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz sweet vermouth, and 0.5 oz orange liqueur to a cocktail shaker.
Sweetener & Flavor
Add 0.5 oz simple syrup, 0.25 oz honey syrup, and 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice to the shaker with the spirits.
Finishing & Garnish
Add egg white (optional)
If you want a silky, foamy finish, add 0.5 oz egg white (about half an egg white). For safety, use pasteurized eggs if preferred.
Dry shake
Seal the shaker and shake vigorously without ice for 10–15 seconds to emulsify the egg white and integrate flavors.
Wet shake
Add ice (about 4–6 cubes) to the shaker and shake hard for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker is very cold to the touch and the mixture is well chilled.
Strain and present
Double-strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or martini glass to remove ice shards and any coagulated egg bits. Use a fine mesh strainer in addition to the shaker strainer for the smoothest texture.
Add bitters and garnish
Carefully add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters onto the foam surface (if using egg white) and use a toothpick to drag a simple design if desired. Express the oils of an orange twist over the drink, run the twist around the rim, and drop it in. Optionally dust a light sprinkle (about 1/4 tsp) of powdered sugar over the foam or rim for a dessert-like touch.
Serve immediately for best texture and aroma.
