Method
Cocktail
Prepare glass
If desired, chill a double old-fashioned glass or tiki mug by filling it with ice water while you mix the drink. Discard the chilling water before serving.
Combine ingredients
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add 1 oz mezcal, 0.5 oz Malibu coconut rum, 0.5 oz Myers's dark rum, 0.5 oz triple sec, 0.75 oz orgeat syrup, and 0.75 oz fresh lime juice.
Shake
Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and well chilled. The vigorous shake helps emulsify the orgeat and aerate the drink slightly.
Prepare serving glass with ice
Fill the chilled glass with crushed ice or a cup of ice cubes (about 1 cup).
Strain and serve
Double-strain the shaken mixture over the ice into the prepared glass using a cocktail strainer and (optional) a fine mesh strainer to catch any small ice shards or pulp.
Garnish
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim, or tuck it into the ice. Optionally express a lime peel over the drink to add aromatic oils.
Serve
Serve immediately with a short straw. Enjoy responsibly.
