Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or rocks glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail. If using a rocks glass, plan to serve over crushed ice; for a coupe, serve straight up.

2

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Myers's Dark Rum, 0.75 oz amaretto, 0.5 oz orgeat syrup, 0.75 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup if you prefer a slightly sweeter drink.

3

Add ice and shake

Add 6 ice cubes to the shaker, cap it, and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the exterior of the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.

4

Prepare serving ice (if using crushed)

If serving over crushed ice, fill your chilled rocks glass about three-quarters full with crushed ice. If serving up in a coupe, discard the glass ice water (if used) and keep the glass chilled.

5

Double strain and serve

For a coupe: double-strain the shaken cocktail (using the shaker strainer and a fine mesh strainer) into the chilled coupe. For a rocks glass: strain the cocktail into the glass over the crushed ice, then gently pack a little more crushed ice on top to mound slightly.

6

Garnish and finish

Express a lemon twist over the drink to release oils and either drop it in or float a lemon wheel on top. Optionally sprinkle 1 tsp toasted almond flakes on the crushed ice or on the lemon wheel for extra almond aroma and texture.

7

Serve

Serve immediately with a short straw for crushed-ice service or without for a coupe. Enjoy responsibly.
