Whiskey

Optional garnish

Method

Prepare glass

  1. 1

Select a chilled or room-temperature old-fashioned glass (also called a rocks glass). If you prefer the glass chilled, place it briefly in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice water while you prepare other components, then discard the ice water before proceeding.

Build the drink

  1. 2

Place a large ice cube (or several regular ice cubes) into the prepared old-fashioned glass.

  2. 3

Pour 2 oz of Booker's Bourbon over the ice.

Garnish and serve

  1. 4

    Expressed orange oil (optional)

If using an orange peel, hold the peel over the glass with the outer skin facing down, give it a firm twist to express the oils over the surface of the whiskey, then rub the peel around the rim and drop it into the glass.

  2. 5

    Cherry (optional)

If using a Luxardo or maraschino cherry, drop it into the glass as a garnish.

  3. 6

Serve immediately and sip slowly—Booker's is a high-proof bourbon best enjoyed neat or over a single large ice cube.
