Strawberry Shake

Enjoy a creamy and refreshing regular-sized strawberry shake made with ripe strawberries and smooth vanilla ice cream.

Strawberry Shake, regular size

Select ripe Riesling grapes, ensuring they are sweet and have a good sugar content. Harvest approximately 10 lbs of grapes.

Crush the grapes in a clean fermentation vessel to release their juice.

To the crushed grapes, add 2 cups of sugar and 1 gallon of water. Stir well to dissolve the sugar completely.

Crush the Campden tablets and dissolve them in the mixture to prevent oxidation and kill wild yeasts. Allow the mixture to sit for 24 hours.

After 24 hours, add 1 tsp of wine yeast to the mixture and stir gently to combine.

Cover the fermentation vessel with a clean cloth or airlock. Allow the mixture to ferment for 1-2 weeks at a steady temperature between 65°F and 75°F (18°C to 24°C), stirring daily.

Primary Fermentation

Check the specific gravity to monitor fermentation progress. It should drop significantly as fermentation occurs.

Monitoring Fermentation

Once fermentation slows down (specific gravity stabilizes), siphon the wine off the sediment into a clean carboy, leaving the sediment behind.

Racking

Seal the carboy with an airlock and allow the wine to age for 6 months to 1 year to develop flavors.

Secondary Fermentation

If desired, add 1 tsp of fining agent to clarify the wine. Follow the instructions for the specific fining agent used.

Fining (Optional)

Once the wine has aged and clarified, siphon it into clean bottles and cork them. Store in a cool, dark place.
