Mill the pale malt, crystal malt, and wheat malt together to a coarse consistency. This will allow for better extraction of sugars during the mashing process.

Milling the Grains

Heat 5 gallons of filtered water in your brew kettle to approximately 165°F (74°C) for mashing.

Boiling Water

Once the water reaches the desired temperature, add the milled grains to the kettle. Stir well to ensure there are no dry spots.

Adding Grains

Maintain a mash temperature of 152°F (67°C) for 60 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure even heat distribution.

After the mash, sparge the grains with hot water (about 170°F or 77°C) to rinse out the sugars. Collect the wort in a separate kettle.

Sparging

Bring the collected wort to a boil. Once boiling, add 1 oz of Cascade hops and boil for 60 minutes.

Boil the Wort

With 15 minutes remaining in the boil, add 0.5 oz of Willamette hops for flavor.

Adding Flavor Hops

After the boil, cool the wort quickly to about 70°F (21°C) using a wort chiller or an ice bath.

Cooling the Wort

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Pitch in the American Ale yeast and seal the vessel with an airlock.

Pitching Yeast

Allow the beer to ferment for about 1-2 weeks at a temperature of 68°F (20°C).

Fermentation Duration

Sanitize all bottles and caps that you will use for bottling the beer.

Preparing Bottles

Siphon the beer into the sanitized bottles, leaving about an inch of headspace. Cap the bottles securely.

Bottling the Beer

Store the bottles at room temperature for 1-2 weeks to allow carbonation to develop.

Carbonation Process

After carbonation, chill the bottles in the refrigerator and enjoy your homemade Blonde Ale!
