Method
Milkshake Base
Chill the glass (optional)
Place a pint glass or tall chilled glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes while you prepare the shake. This keeps the finished pint cold longer.
Measure and add 1 cup whole milk, 2 cups vanilla ice cream, 1/4 cup heavy cream, 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract to a blender.
Secure the blender lid and pulse 2–3 times to break up the ice cream, then blend on medium-high for 20–30 seconds until the mixture is smooth but still thick. Scrape down the sides with a spatula if large chunks remain and blend 5–10 seconds more. The texture should be spoonable but pourable into a pint glass.
Optional Mix-ins / Finish
If making a chocolate swirl pint, drizzle 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup inside the chilled pint glass, turning the glass as you drizzle to create ribbons.
Fold in 1/4 cup crumbled cookies or chocolate chips into the blended shake with 2 quick low-speed pulses so they distribute without fully pulverizing (skip if you prefer smooth).
Pour the milkshake into the prepared chilled pint glass, using a spatula to get every bit out of the blender.
Top with 2 tablespoons whipped cream and an optional maraschino cherry. Serve immediately with a straw and stout spoon so the pint can be enjoyed.
