Method
Preparing the Taco Shells
Fry Corn Tortillas
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add one corn tortilla at a time. Fry for about 30 seconds on each side until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on a paper towel.
Steam Corn Tortillas (for soft tacos)
If you prefer soft tacos, wrap the corn tortillas in a damp cloth and microwave for 30-60 seconds until warm and pliable.
Making the Meat Filling
Cook the Ground Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
Add Seasoning
Once the beef is browned, drain excess fat. Add the taco seasoning mix and water, stirring to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
Assembling the Tacos
Fill the Taco Shells
Take a taco shell and spoon in a generous amount of the meat filling. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, sliced jalapeños, and fresh cilantro.
Serve
Serve the tacos immediately with lime wedges on the side, if desired. Enjoy your delicious homemade tacos!
